Magellan Interactive

Magellan Interactive is a Video Game development company based in Vancouver, British Columbia. I was tapped to help redesign their web site in late 2010.

It was a long development process with some serious lessons learned about working with a client in such a remote fashion.

In June 2011 I submitted my final build of the custom WordPress theme files. Some technical issues regarding the client’s network and virtual server setup prevented me from working on the production and launch of the final site.

The production site launched in July of 2011 after I had left the project.

The website is a custom WordPress theme using some very solid plugins from the WordPress community. Most notably, the Catablog plugin behind the games listing.

Gameblend Studios

A chance meeting between one of my colleagues and one of the principals of Gameblend Studios led to more than a few conversations over coffee and a redesign project for Gameblend’s primary website. The focus of the website are the games. Featuring, marketing and selling the games is the goal.

The site is a built-from-scratch WordPress theme with some creative uses of custom fields that allow the user to input various assets only once and have them appear in several places throughout the site. Things like screenshots, thumbnails, marketing graphics and game descriptions are all managed as a single “blog post”. This makes managing the featured games on the site a little easier.

If you have an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch you should try some of the games, they’re a good value and lots of fun. Check’em out at gameblend.com

CFCC’s English department and Learning Recourse Center’s joint poetry and performance event will be held in Mid April at the Wilmington USO. Until then, you find the following attractive poster gracing the halls of CFCC and various walls of Downtown Wilmington.

MarTech Gets Drydocked for Refit.

When asked to update content on the Cape Fear Community College Marine Technology web page I found a website that not only needed an update to an out of date and visually cluttered layout, it was a rat’s nest of poor HTML markup.

The MarTech website needed to be rebuilt from the ground up.

Thus started a two and a half month project to redesign, recode and relaunch a website for one of CFCC’s most recognizable programs.

I won’t bore you with the details but you should see the before and after shots.

Black Market Tees

Black Market Tees is an upstart custom tee shirt printer located in Raleigh, NC. The website is designed to grow as their business grows and incorporate additional features such as an eCommerce module and an interactive T-shirt designer.

This is the first website for a client where I’ve used Typekit to the set the type. This site uses Alpha Echo by Vic Fieger for header text and Droid Sans by Google Android for small text.
